KB4056892 breaks ASUS AI Suite II on AMD FX-8150/ASUS M5A97The ASUS utilities are nice things to have around providing fan control, port diagnostics and many other nicety's. One nice thing is that you can change the Fan/Thermal advance without shutting down the system and going into BIOS.AI Suit II will not install under Win-10 no matter what lies you tell it using compatibility options.
Put another way, reinstall is not an option.Through some combination of luck and craft I have managed to preserve AI Suite through the Win-7 to Win-10 upgrade, three Windows upgrades and a gone dead SSD res drive (the marvel of system image backups).KB4056892 ended all that. 0.7.1 and SpeedFan Vs.4.5.1 I was able to keep CPU Temp somewhat lower than the ASUS Bios table 'Turbo' during a Defender run on the SSD res drive. At Idle or low workloads (app 89F - 93F) the fans run just above stall speed. SpeedFan can also post messages to the Windows Actions area by setting up SpeedFan actions.Speed fan can (should) be set to bring the fans to full speed any time it is not active.
Microsoft updates may be noisy. On the other hand you will be getting all the airflow you can get.SpeedFan is not as easy to set up as the MB utilities.It is general, not MB specific.

You will need to determine which IT8721F (or whatever) controls which Pwm n(or whatever). This is why documenting this becomes difficult.
Different motherboards are Different.SpeedFan does have a configuration Download/Upload so there might be something someone else has done that may help you get started.For the moment all I can say is that for this CPU/MB combination it works under Win-10 after KB4056892. I haven't even built the tasks to get this running at logon as yet. There is much fine tuning to do.I will provide additional information at a later time and any assistance I can.WARNING:Insure that should any 'mis configuration' occur the fans will default to full speed.If possible allow the CPU fan to run at full speed until you determine how to control the case fans.Use caution. I had this same issue, tried the newer version of AI Suite III (v2.0014) that was listed in the one forum link below. It caused the 'The server threw an exception' error to then appear.Upon further reading up on the ROG forums though I came across this thread:If you look at post #18 (direct link: )it refers to a beta version of AI Suite 3 which you can get here:I have installed the beta version and it seems to fix the two issues I've experienced since the 2018-01 in10 update. AI Suite seems to be running as usual.

In this case, change the compatibility will do nothing!Also, I had to turn off the Turbo mode because my PC start to crash after this month.Here is my solution for AI Suite II;1- Make sure if installed AI Suite II on your computer.2- Download and install manually if your Windows Update can't install automatically update 'KB4056892': (choose Windows 10 latest link below in catalog)3- After installed the update 'KB4056892' don't let restart the computer. Choose 'Close' or 'I will reboot after'4- Download and install manually this update 'KB4073290': (choose Windows 10 latest link below in catalog)5- After installed the 'KB4073290' update then click to 'Restart Now' and see the result.Good Luck.
Mehmet,I would be interested to know on what devices Ai Suit 2 has been caused to work again.What ASUS Motherboard or Type and Model did this work on.Do KB4056892 and KB4073290 show as installed, or.Does KB4073290 uninstall the earlier update.Although in my case Ai Suite remains installed, I have disabled the tasks that will start it. As ASUS appears to make additional checks as to system level,compatibility options for install only delay the install failing reporting 'Wrong OS Level'.For my needs I prefer the Speedfan workaround as it provides more granular control, better logging, and far better ability to post alerts. I also find that there is less system overhead.That being said, it still would be good to know if Ai Suite can be returned to functional and to what MBs and / or devices this might apply. My issues is with Asus Sabertooth z77 (5 years old, still performing great)-otherwise I can signoff all the rest Wandya put in the comment (above).To me, it seems Intel (and also AMD and others) are not fully aware of the Meltdown & Spectre bugs consequences on the global level.
Compared to this, the former Pentium FP bug (20 years ago for those youngsters who were already present in the IT scene)is a children's game. Now, everybody (OS and also Apps suppliers) are currying the consequences while chip designers and suppliers are talking about the 'patches' and 'redesigned future CPUs' while we, end users, are battling the final consequences and arenot able to use our systems and platforms as before. Even the famous KB4056892 patch is a garbage, introducing failures for good running apps and decreasing significantly the system performance.As the immediate solution, I have uninstalled this patch and my Asus AI Suite II is running smoothly as before. I managed to install the AI Suite II version 2.04.01 which, according to Asus, is not compliant with my MoBo Sabertooth z77.Hopefully Asus will do an effort and modify the Suite II because of many users still running this peace of SW-instead of pushing us to purchase the new HW supporting the newest CPUs (p.e.
Intel 8 series) which are also suffering the same design leaks! Andthe costs of this SW redesign of Suite II should be invoiced to Intel or other chip producers.
